This is a wonderful opportunity to simply connect with others, make new friends, share some kai, have a natter or two and have a sing-a-long as well. It is certainly a great way to end the week with this vibrant group in a nice relaxing atmosphere where it is completely Kaumātua-driven with the support of the Manager, Evelyn. The staff are always on hand to assist them with any general queries they may have. The Komātua group participates in various activities such as gentle exercises, visiting establishments, cafes, and they all attend the monthly Kaumātua lunch held by Te Puna Oranga, at Ngā Hau e Whā Marae, with arranged transport so everyone can attend. It is free to join, bring a small plate to share. Let us know if you need transportation.
We have held our own Rowley Komātua Lunch down the road from the Centre at the Rowley Bible Chapel Hall after the covid lockdowns as a means to keep the connection with our Kaumātua in our local area which was supported by Te Puna Oranga that we were able to run this mini version which was well attended by many.
The logo above represents the mana of the journey our 'Komātua' travelled in life on the waka as leaders and kaitiaki of our families, our culture, our whakapapa, and our community. And how this part of their journey through our Rowley Komātua group is bringing that unity in a shared purpose.
If you live locally, are aged 65 and over, and want to to connect with others. You are more than welcome to give Evelyn our Manager a call on (03) 9601776 or pop into the centre anytime between 9am and 2pm Monday to Fridays. The only time we are closed is during Public Holidays, Covid lockdowns and Christmas/New Year period.
Nau mai, haere mai.
